Looking at Dirt

I didn't think I would be looking for hillside to ski dirt this late in the year. Utah is getting some epic snow storms right now. I ended up at the top of the hillside in Chino Hills California. It was actually a good looking gully and would be sweet with some now on it. Insted I was skiing over grass, dirt, rocks, and sticks. I took four runs down. On one run down I wiped out flipping over. It was tough to make turns so I took a straight line down and rode it till I stopped at the bottom.

Ahhhhhh

Opening day at Alta. It wasn't quite three yet so I hiked up a little to ski down a gully. I'm sick of hiking. It felt so good to finally sit on a chair lift again and rip down the slops. Found some decent powder and a few jumps. One jump was off the side of a rock, I took it and on my landing I did a head plant in the snow. I looked over about two feet to the side and there was a big rock sticking out of the snow. I would have been out cold if I would of hit that. A couple minutes later a pair of skiers hit the same jump and I was still under the jump. Luckily he caught enough air to fly over me. Two close calls. Skied down a few more times, high winds but it was nice to making some laps.

Powder Crawling

Crawling up the mountain in 16 inches of powder. Soft snow, great for floating down on skis. Can't wait for the lifts to open up so I can spend more time skiing then hiking.

Leftovers

It hasn't snowed since the three feet of snow last week and now the snow is crusted over and melting. It was nasty skiing through crusty snow with sticks poking up and whipping me as I skied down. I hit a log jump a few times before skiing down to the bottom.
