Chalk Rock

Hiking up to find some new ski territory. There is a patch of white rock that looks like snow in the hills of Springville. The chalk rock was hard on top and loose in the middle of the 50 yard slope. It was skiable, so I made 5 runs on it before leaving.

Snow Hunt

I'm not willing to let this ski season end. Driving up little Cottonwood to find something to ski on. The biggest snow patch and easiest to get to is still Mt. Superior. Hiked into Suicide chute a bit but it was holing out underneath so I didn't go far. Hard surface with some spray on my turns. Near the bottom I had to dodge rocks and sticks. Flying down the mountain this late is sweet.

Rock Kicker

I wasn't really into skiing on dirt. It was hot, dusty and not refreshment. I skied four runs and it turned out good. Took a little rock kicker at the top of the point. Skiing rocks fast down to the gully.

Steep N' Hard

Took on Mt Superior, it still has a good chunk of glacier snow on it. Steep and one slip you could be sliding all the way down and get pretty messed up. I hided up to the top of the first section right before it goes up suicide chute. Skied down a few times on the hard snow with some spray on my turns. Skied down to the bottom or at least almost to the bottom.

Holding On

It's melting fast. I had to do some glacier hoping to get down to the bottom. Felt good to be making turns in the snow this late in the season. I can't let go of the snow, I want to keep holding on as long as possible.

Wet Dirt

Pure dirt skiing. Found a new spot to ski in Dimple Dell where they have recently constucted a tunnel and left some of the land scape ripe for some dirt skiing. The dirt was wet from a rain storm but the slope was steep enough to get some momentum and ski down about 100 yards. Not bad.

Crud Spray

Might as well be skiing on concrete. Felt like I was skiing on a wash board spay the crud snow on my turns. I tried recreating some shots from when I skied this same spot last November, the main difference was last time I was skiing sweet pow. I ended up hitting a jump about 3 times. Good times.

Crowded Slopes

It was a madhouse up at Snowbird. You would have thought it was going to be a sweet powder day. Last day the bird was going to be open and the parking lot was full. This was a first for me skiing this late in the year using the ski lifts. Great feeling. It was cloudy the whole day with a warm breeze in the air. Skied with my brother all day. Lots of slush in the moguls. Hit the jumps when every possible, sometimes other people got in the way because there were so many people at the resort. Many people dressed up as well as skiing in there swim suits. Fun atmosphere. Skied hard on Mineral Basin and Little Cloud. They wouldn't let you ski down to the bottom without paying another $10. After skiing hard for a good four hours we skied down to the bottom with a short hike to the skiers bridge. Great 4th of July skiing.
