Meltdown

From Ski all Year

The snow is melting fast. It still feels good to slip and slide on the snow even though the snow is basically slush. Hiked up to the half pipe at Snowbird again. Dropped in and shot up the walls to catch some air. I could spend the whole day up here but the clouds were rolling in fast so I skied down just in time to make it out of the rain.

Snow Patches

From Ski all Year

From Ski all Year

From Ski all Year

There is no longer a direct path of snow all the way down to the base of the resort. Hiked up Snowbird, sometimes I was on the snow and other times I was walking through mud and rocks. Hiked up to the small half pipe to drop in. Good slushy snow that was fast enough to drop in and catch some air coming out of the pipe. Dropped in five times in the pipe and tried a pair of 360's. Didn't really land them because I was turning the wrong way, but it was fun. Skied down on a path that was only 10 feet wide, then had to walk the rest of the way down. It was good to ski snow in June.

Rock Pile

From Rock Pile 2009

Quick fix for skiing. Brought out the rock skis to to shred a rocky slope. Just off the side of I-15 in Sandy there is a 100 foot pile of rocks, probably being used for some construction project. So before it is gone I wanted to ski it. The little red pebbles are perfect for skiing down with a nice steep slope to get going. Defiantly a workout to get to the top but fun to ski down. I took three runs down the rock pile.

No Speed

From Ski all Year

From Ski all Year

The snow is melting quick. Couldn't get my speed up because of the snow melt. No speed to take a jump. Not that would wanted to anyway. The jump was aimed right into a wall of rocks. Dropped in on the half pipe to get a little bit of air. Warm, this isn't going to last much longer.

Shush Poop

From Ski all Year

From Ski all Year

Great day to do a little hiking and ski a bit. The snow was nice and slushy. The sides of the pipe were a bit bumpy but I still could get enough speed to catch some air coming out of the pipe. Hit a kicker a couple times for some bigger air then skied down the slush poop snow.

Fast Slush

From Brighton

Still lots of snow in the mountains. Hiked up up to the half pipe at Brighton Ski area and took a 3 or 4 runs. Good speed in the pipe to launch up and out for some hang time. Fun slush skiing.
