Red Sand Skimming
I usually do not ski on dirt around so many people but I didn't have much of a choice. Just outside of Arches Natinal park there is a sweet red sand hill. With my kids wanting to play in the sand and a bunch of other strangers just hanging out there, I grabbed my skis and started hiking up. My first run I hit a couple of weed jumps and skied to the bottom. Steep with some good speed. Then I went for a more artistic shot so I set up my camera for a side shot profile. I had to hurry a bit because some guy was about to get in the shot. Near the top of the hill there was a small jump that I was able to hit. Great runs, just the right speed to skim across the sand to the bottom. Just after my 4th run it started to rain and I had to cut my time short.

Rollin' in the Dirt
The Point is where I rock skied the more then any other location. It's just a good spot for rocks. I managed to find a new area to ski at the point. I ended up skiing a nice thin line of a rock slide, then a few cliffs in the grassy area caught my eye. I gave it a shot. Hard landing but doable. On one drop I missed my landing and rolled it. Covered in dirt it was time to move on.

Rock Slide
Checking out Lambs Canyon to find a place to ski. Secluded Canyon with a stream running through. I parked on the side of the road hopped over the stream and started my climb. Steep rock slide, with every step rocks would slide, at one point a slab of rocks started coming down. Once I strapped on my skis, I was sliding down with the loose rocks carving through the rocks and doing a few jump turns. Fast gliding over the rocks. I took about four runs and on the last run my ski boot snapped. Fun place to ski, rocks were a little big. Probably won't come back to this place.

Middle of Nowhere
Drove for two hours out to Little Sahara just past Nephi. For awhile I thought I was going the wrong way but I found it without a wrong turn. Sand Mountian is about a 15 minute hike up and less then a minute to ski down. Slow start going down but once I got going I picked up some good speed and was able to make some good turns on top of the sand. This place needs a chair lift. I would have liked to stay and ski some more but I ran out of time.

Might as Well
My intent today was to ski some snow, but when I looked over at the patch of snow I saw a couple weeks ago it was almost gone and not worth hiking for. I'm up here might as well ski something. So I parked off to the side of the road and skied something else. Hard surface with a a nice look at the cliffs of Little Cottonwood. Not much of a fun factor so I took two runs and got out of there.
