Bottomed Out

Plenty of snow up at Solitude, although it is getting heavy and will probably melt if it doesn't snow again. I took one long run floating on the pow. Then hit a small drop a couple of times. Each time I bottomed out scaping the mountain.

Sinking Feeling

This is the 100th week in a row I have gone skiing. Three feet of fresh pow. I hiked up the Alta Brighton trail. With every step I sunk to my knees. It was a tough hike up but the skiing down was sweet. Soft fresh, deep powder on the way down as long as the terrain was steep enough otherwise I would just stop because there was so much pow. I didn't hit a single rock.

Morning Dew

I didn't have much time before the morning dew evaporated. Skiing Flat Iron Mesa is steep enough to ski but the grass has to be wet or you are pushing too much. Point your skis down the hill and your off. Turning is more of a jump turn because edges don't really work. Sliding down the grassy slope about four time.

Missing Hole

Last year this place was one of my favorits. A big sand pit because of construction, but now it's all filled in. I skied on one of the near by hillsides. Not much of a run just a quick one turn sand slope. I went around the corner and found a longer run with some vegetation. Skiing down the brush scraping my legs up dodging the big rocks hidden by the weeds.

Getting Old

I drove past two spot before I ended up at the point. While I was getting set up, some how I pulled a back muscle. I tried to stretch it out, but I just ended up skiing with the pain. I took three runs down gliding across the rocks. It was decent but this place is getting old and tracked out.

Erode

Looking for a place to ski alone Dimple Dell ravine. I didn't find a place right in the ravine but a I did find an eroded hillside to hit the spot. The eroded hill side was about 40 feet tall with the top section a wall straight up. Climbing up the hillside was challenging, pulling myself on top I had to use my upper body like a pull up. Once on top I wasn't sure I was had it in me to take the short hill. There was no room for doubt or hesitation. It was a 5 foot drop followed by a second 5 foot drop. I psyched myself out and climbed down to take an easier route. After three warm up runs I over came my fear and hit the double drop The first drop was more of a slide that gave me some good speed to shoot me out about 10 feet. I had to hit it again. What a rush.
